Niles West's Siemienski Achieves Facility Management Honors
Jerzy Siemienski, Niles West High School’s Director of Buildings and Grounds, was recently recognized by the Illinois Association of School Business Officials (IASBO) for completing a comprehensive series of coursework in the Facility Management Designation Program. Sieminski was honored with the Certificate of Achievement in the program at IASBO’s annual conference this May in Peoria.
“This honor underlines what we already know at Niles West, which is that Jerzy Siemienski is a skilled professional in the many areas of responsibility that fall under facility management,” said Niles West Principal Kaine Osburn. “Jerzy and his Buildings & Ground crew keep Niles West one of the best-maintained and most smoothly operating schools in Illinois. His professional development work in the facility management program just gives him that much more expertise to keep our school in peak condition.”
Successful program participants must successfully complete coursework through a combination of required and elective courses and seminars over a five-year period. Topics range from budget and financial projections, through security and emergency preparedness management, to educational facility design, renovation and construction.
This voluntary educational program was created and is sponsored by IASBO’s Facility Management Professional Development Committee.
