Coming Together Skokie (CTS) will be held at the Skokie Public Library, 5215 Oakton St., on Sunday, Jan. 27.
Members of the Greek community will present cultural art exhibits and refreshments at 2 p.m., followed by a cultural program that includes an original short video, skits, music and Greek hors d’oeuvres. The emcee is Jane Monzures, TV/radio personality, current host of Living Healthy Chicago on WGN TV.
CTS is dedicated to promoting literacy and in-depth knowledge about the many different cultures in Skokie. It is a joint effort of several Skokie institutions that have formed an umbrella group to support community unity by sponsoring a variety of special projects aimed at developing a better understanding of the many ethnic groups that live in our village.
In 2010 CTIS showcased the Asian-Indian community, in 2011 it presented the Filipino-American community and in 2012 the Assyrian community. CTS will honor the Greek culture in 2013. Members of the Greek community are proud to present cultural and art exhibits, and programs that celebrate their culture.
