Here is a little known fact: More couples breakup around Christmas time than any other time of the year. That being said, it may be time to step up your game and take that special someone out for a romantic evening. If you're unsure where to go, don't fret, Patch has you covered!

Want to know Skokie's new hot spot? Look no further than Libertad, a fine-dining Latin restaurant located at 7931 Lincoln Ave. , the restaurant has gained quite the following.

The restaurant is helmed by Las Palmas’ Marcos Rivera and chef Armando Gonzalez of Chicago’s Bin 36 and MK. The spot features a bar with tall seats and multiple wall-mounted wooden wine racks. The dining room is painted with warm hues and decorated with 3D images of faces. The small wooden tables are lit by candles and have a view of the open kitchen. This place is gorgeous.

We've even heard rumors that you can't get a table on Saturday night without reservations. That being said, make sure to plan ahead!

Skokie’s food scene has a hidden gem in 9-month-old Eclissi Italian Restaurant, which offers an intimate dining experience and large plates of truly excellent food.

The tiny spot at 8018 N. Lincoln Ave. is easy to miss. The dining room has just a few dark wood tables, each featuring a small vase with fresh flowers, and pictures of plants and wine bottles line the walls. A giant wine rack is positioned between the dining room and kitchen, showing off the restaurant’s collection of nearly 20 wines. Hanging lanterns and soft playing Frank Sinatra tunes add to the mellow vibe.

The restaurant also features a great selection of wine on the cheaps and the atmosphere is just perfect for an evening out.

Who says you can't have fine-dining BBQ? Located near the Skokie-Lincolnwood border, L. Woods serves excellent food and will ensure dinners have a great night out.

The restaurant at 7110 N. Lincoln Ave. in Lincolnwood goes for a woodsy lodge vibe. The dining room features plenty of wooden booths with red cushion and dark wood tables. Walls are covered with pictures of customers, autographed sports photos and mounted fish, and the bar area features plenty of flat-screen TVs tuned to sports.

The place is known to get crowded on the weekends, with a good mix of middle-aged couples and large groups of friends that take advantage of the restaurant's large tables.

The service and BBQ food is second to none. Be warned, though, just because you're eating ribs and steak doesn't mean this food-fare is cheap. Dinner for two with drinks can run about $100 including tip and tax.

Located at 9501 Skokie Blvd., the Northlight Theater Company was founded in 1974. The company shows plays and musicals in a 342-seat theater in the North Shore Center for the Performing Arts in Skokie. It has put on over 162 productions including 33 world premiers.

This month the Northlight Theatre is showing Season's Greetings by Alan Ayckbourn. The comedy is about family bickering around the holidays - from drunken mishaps to those unusual relatives.

Tickets range from $25 to $45.

Sometimes the Internet gets it right.

On a venue that sometimes seems so given over to trash talking, complaints and anonymous insults, it's refreshing to see people happy and in agreement. Out of nowhere in a recent Patch article for this column, the  excitedly turned to Kabul House.

Recently reopened in downtown Skokie, this long beloved restaurant was off the scene for close to two and a half years. A 'Check Please' alum, regional foodies were well aware of its absence. The restaurant  was missed: this thread at the LTHForum tracked the restaurant when it was open, then about to reopen in another location, even reporting to one another on the state of construction.

Now in its new home at 4949 Oakton St., the bright and attractive modern space adds another light to Skokie's ever brighter assortment of downtown. If you're looking for something different, then Kabul House may be right up your alley. The restaurant features the best dishes from Afghanistan and other parts of the world.
