Family Sues Former Skokie EMT Charged In Fatal Hit-and-Run

The Chicago Tribune is reporting that the family of a Park Ridge man killed in a hit-and-run is suing the driver, an emergency medical technician.

The family of a Park Ridge man killed in a hit-and-run in November has filed a lawsuit in Cook County Circuit Court, the Chicago Tribune reported.

Ronald Bougan, 53, was killed after being struck while walking on the south side of W. Touhy Avenue on Nov. 5. A Skokie EMT, Kristian Hernandez, 36, was charged in the crash with leaving the scene of an accident and failure to report an accident resulting in a death.

The lawsuit states that Hernandez failed to keep proper lookout, sped, drove in multiple lanes and did not assist Bougan after hitting him, the Chicago Tribune reported.

A man riding his bicycle found Bougan in a grassy area and initially, in the dark, thought he was looking at a deer or other animal, authorities said.

Hernandez worked as an EMT for an ambulance company in Skokie, the Sheriff's Department said.
