Disturbing calls

A woman called police to inform them of several disturbing calls she received on Dec. 4. According to the report, the caller told the victim that “I know where you live, I’m gonna come in through the basement” and in another instance, “I’m standing outside.” The victim told police that several of her female co-workers all received similar calls. The woman was able to provide police with a phone number, but she is unsure if it will actually trace back to the alleged suspect.

Victim fends off attackers

Police responded to the 9400 block of Kolmar Avenue regarding an intimidation complaint on Dec 3. According to the report, two masked men approached the victim with what appeared to be a handgun and said, “Get out of my neighborhood Indian guy, I’m gonna kill you if I see you next time.”

The victim was able to fight back and knock the gun out of the suspect’s hand. Both culprits would then flee the scene.

When police arrived they located a black BB gun, but were unable to locate the suspects.

Oberweis sign vandalized

Police responded to a criminal damage complaint in the 8700 block of Dempster Street on Dec. 3. According to the report, black spray paint was used to write the words “Royal” and “GLK” on an Oberweis sign at the corner of Dempster Street and Skokie Boulevard.  

Nordstrom theft

Mohsin A. Detraliya, 21, of the 5400 block of Kimball Avenue in Chicago, was charged with retail theft on Dec. 3. According to the report, Detraliya allegedly stole two shirts with a combined value of $160 from Nordstrom in Old Orchard Mall. His court date is Feb 11.

Running buck-naked

Police responded to a complaint about a man running through Terminal Park – which is just across the street from Old Orchard Junior High – naked on Dec. 3. The suspect was described as a white heavy-set male, about 45-years-of-age with gray hair.

A witness told police that he saw the suspect get dressed after witnessing the disturbing event.
