Grown Man Attacks Child at Jane Stenson

Battery

Officers responded to a battery complaint in the 4800 block of Wright Terrace on March 13 around 10:45 p.m.

According to police, two friends were hanging out at a nearby alley when one of them said to the other that “she doesn’t like her.” This was followed up with an attack, where the offender lunged at the victim and struck her multiple times in the face and head, police said.

The attacker would then flee the scene. No arrests were made.

Battery at Jane Stenson Elementary

Officers responded to a battery complaint in the 9200 block of Lockwood Avenue on March 13 around 8:30 a.m. According to police, a juvenile ran toward another student in front of the school. An adult on scene didn’t appreciate this and began yelling at the child. He then went on to push the victim, who said she tripped, but did not fall, according to the report.

The suspect was described as a male – possibly Assyrian – in his 40’s, about 5-foot-2, average build with curly black or brown hair, police said.

Theft at North Face store

Officers responded to a theft at the North Face Store in Old Orchard Mall on March 13. According to police, a customer walked into the store and stole several pieces of clothing before fleeing the scene. No arrests were made.

Stolen grill, patio furniture

A Weber brand grill and patio furniture were reported stolen from a home in the 4900 block of Birchwood Avenue on March 12. The items were located in the homeowner’s backyard, the report stated.

More thrown feces

A homeowner reported that an unknown person(s) left feces on his garage apron in the 4600 block of Oakton Street on March 13. Last week, a different homeowner reported that an unknown offender(s) threw dog feces at the exterior of his home in the 8300 block of Christiana Avenue.  

Phony checks lead to arrest

Mark Johnson, 54, of Chicago, and Gerald Powell, 53, also of Chicago, were both charged with forgery and forgery with intent to deliver on March 13.

According to police, the duo attempted to purchase several goods from Lord & Taylor in Old Orchard Mall using phony checks. However, their scheme was foiled when the Skokie store got a call earlier in the day from Lord & Taylor Schaumburg informing them of the scheme.

DUI

Anthony Rakittke, 34, of Rolling Meadows, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol on March 14. Rakittke was also issued citations for improper lane usage and having no front license plate, police said. The report did not indicate where Rakittke was stopped.

Cassandra Feuersten, 47, of Chicago, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol on March 10. The offender was also given citations for improper parking, no valid insurance and obstructing and resisting a police officer. No further details were provided.
