Pistol Displayed, Man Injured in Aggravated Assault

Police responded to an aggravated battery complaint in the 8300 block of Keating Avenue around 11 p.m. in Skokie.

Officers responded to an aggravated battery in the 8300 block of Keating Avenue in Skokie around 11 p.m. According to police, the victim was playing pool at his apartment when he heard a loud noise coming from the basement. When he went to investigate, he saw that the door had been forced open and his friend wrestling with an unknown offender.

A second suspect would soon enter the basement and point a gun at the victim while his friend struggled with the first offender, police said. It was at that point that the resident pushed the pistol away from the offender. Both suspects would then flee the scene.

The victim’s friend sustained a minor head injury.

The first suspect was described as a black male, about 6-feet-tall, thin build and wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt. The second offender was described as a black male, about 5-foot-8, thin build and wearing a red hooded sweatshirt, police said.

At this time, it is unclear when the incident occurred. No further information is available.

Ms. Bromberg needs to get out a little more...as you can see things have changed regarding crime in the village.

Obviously Ms. Bromberg doesn't live near the downtown Skokie area. That's where I live, and I certainly don't feel as safe as I did when I moved here years ago. I like to walk for exercise, but I don't like to walk alone any longer. Places I used to walk to, I now drive to. It's a shame.

VS,

We can start by voting out any caucus party member running for office.
Please spread the word and be proactive.
Crime is not down.
Cacus party has failed all residents.

She is going to volunteer for the block watch captain position....
After she finishes her day job of pushing failed ideas at the taxpayers expense....

I really feel we need to get some local media attention on this issue of the caucus party saying crime is down and residents feeling otherwise.

This would really help shine light on this issue and hopefully with local media attention things MAY change around here

Thoughts?

What did I warn of just yesterday? That those blasted lighters would lead to the playing of billiards...and look what has happened because of it!

Vote no to lighters, matches, and other infernal ignitionary devices!

And vote no to pool, billiards, snooker, cut-throat, and the like!

Oh, Troy, you have choked me up by reminding me of my dear father and the awe he inspired in the many patients to whom he tended.

Dr. McCracken, or "Ol' Doc McCracken" as they used to call him, was the beloved surgeon, barber, house-doctor, embalmer and amateur abortionist -- back when our fair village was still named Niles Center.

Oh, the nights he'd trip-trop down muddy lanes on his broken-down nag named Sugarpuss, his black doctoring satchel in one hand and his glass jar of blood-letting leeches in the other.

Oh, the smallpox he un-poxed.

Oh, the scurvy he ascorbated.

Oh, the locked jaws of gandy-dancers he pried open.

Oh, the lepers' lesions he lanced.

Thank you for remembering Dr. McCracken, the scourge of disease, the hope of unwed mothers, the beacon of the infirm, the breath of the consumpted, and my dear, departed "dad"....

Dear Mr. McCracken,

I have grown to enjoy your sweet sense of humor, (especially since I lost mine such a long time ago and am still looking to find it...) In the meantime, thank you for putting a comical and nostalgic slant on the Patch and I hope you forgive me for being unhappy with you a few weeks ago... Susan

we need more cops in skokie to take care of the growing population in our village, The more people the more cops. Its common sense.

What we need are more cops living in Skokie. Why no residency requirements for the 100+ cops currently being paid to police Skokie.
