Update - Oakton Community College and Northeastern University have cancelled all classes this afternoon.
Due to weather conditions, there will be no after school activities at all of Skokie's school districts this afternoon, Tuesday, Feb. 26. Skokie Patch confirmed the information with District 219, 73, 73.5, 68, 69 and 65.
Parents should have received a phone call from the school earlier today. It is unclear if school will be canceled for Wednesday morning at this time.
A winter weather advisory will be in effect today from noon until 9 p.m., with 3 to 6 inches of snow expected to fall. Some areas could see totals greater than 6 inches should thundersnow occur. Thundersnow, which indicates that there is greater instability in the atmosphere, typically results in heavier snowfall, according to National Geographic.
