A 17-year-old Mather High School student has been charged with the stabbing of a Niles North student, police said today. The teen was charged with one count of aggravated battery.

The minor is alleged to have stabbed a Niles North student at Emerson Park on Nov. 9. That student was sent to two different hospitals to treat a lacerated liver, or stab wound to the mid-section, police said.

Officers responded to Emerson Park, 9530 Lawler Ave., regarding a report of a large group of people fighting. According to police reports, students from Niles West, Niles North and Mather High School were present.

The incident stemmed from an argument between a Niles North High School student and Mather High School student, police said.

Because the offender is under the age of 18, Skokie Patch is not releasing his name.
