Thursday Blotter: Burnt Garbage

The Skokie Fire Department reported that “an unknown flammable object” burned two garbage cans near the Oakton CTA Station on Sept. 19.
Driving with Mary Jane
Steve Stefanis, 24, of Skokie, was charged with possession of marijuana on Sept. 19. According to the report, Stefanis allegedly purchased about 6 grams of cannabis from a dealer at a McDonalds in Skokie. He was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and not having a functioning license plate, police said. His court date is Oct. 25.
Ricardo Matthews, 31, of Evanston, was charged with disorderly conduct after he slashed the tires of a vehicle that belonged to someone known to him on Sept. 23.
Theft from Macy’s
Juan Nakamura, 32, of Chicago, was charged with retail theft after he allegedly attempted to steal $443 worth of merchandise from Macy’s in Old Orchard Mall on Sept. 23.
A man reported that a teen threw a brick through his vehicle’s rear window in the 5000 block of Estes Avenue on Sept. 23.
Juan Zepeda, 43, of Skokie, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol on Sept. 23.
