Wednesday Blotter: ATM Skimming Scam

Disorderly contact at Portillo’s
A Portillo’s employee contacted police regarding an order of protection violation against his former lover on Feb. 16. According to the report, the man’s ex-boyfriend came into Portillo’s Restaurant and demanded that the victim speak with him. The victim denied his request and the alleged suspect soon fled. No charges were filed.
Theft at Marshall’s
Bayartuul Tserenchimed, 32, of the 8500 block of Niles Center Road, was charged with retail theft on Feb. 16. According to the report, Tserenchimed allegedly concealed a pair of woman’s high heels and perfume from Marshall’s, 9445 Skokie Blvd., and left the store without paying. She was apprehended by store security and later charged with retail theft, the report said.
Theft at Lincoln Jr. High
Police responded to a theft at Lincoln Jr. High, 7839 Lincoln Ave., on Feb. 10. According to the report, a student reported that $66 in cash was stolen from his gym locker. The victim also told police that he might have left his locker unlocked, the report said.
ATM skimming
A Skokie man reported a deceptive practice on Feb. 14. According to the report, someone gained access to his credit card number and withdrew $503 from his bank account, even though he was in sole possession of his card. The victim may have fallen prey to an ATM skimming scam. To read our previous coverage click here.
