Wednesday Blotter: Citizen's Arrest

A car parked in the 9000 block of Kenton Avenue was vandalized on Jan. 5. According to the report, the rear window was busted out. No items were reported missing.
Theft from auto
About $3 in change was reported stolen from a car parked in the 9100 block of Bennett Street on Jan. 6. According to the report, the suspect(s) shattered the driver’s side window to gain entry.
A woman attempted to purchase $2,000 worth of Apple Ipads with a stolen credit card from the Apple Store in Old Orchard Mall on Jan. 6. When questioned about the card, the woman fled without the merchandise or card, the report stated. No arrests were made.
Police responded to the 8100 block of Kilpatrick Avenue to investigate a report of an explosive device being used in the area.
After speaking to several witnesses officers determined that several teens were making “Draino bombs,” the report said. No arrests or injuries were reported.
An 18-year-old male from Chicago was charged with possession of marijuana on Jan. 5. The teen was arrested in the 4700 block of Madison Avenue and had about one gram of cannabis in his possession, the report said.
A 15-year-old male was charged with retail theft after he attempted to steal a carton of Newport cigarettes from 7-Eleven, 3441 Church St., on Jan. 5 around 4:40 p.m. According to the report, the teen snuck into the office area of the store and took the smokes, which were valued at around $110.
The store clerk witnessed the theft and tried stopping the teen, but was unsuccessful, the report said. However, as the teen approached the exit of the business a customer stopped and held him until police arrived.
