A taxi driver was bilked of $54 after his customer fled his vehicle in the 8100 block of Kostner Avenue on June 23. The cab driver said he picked up the alleged suspect from Bensenville.

Almost short $10K

A man came into the Skokie police station to report an identity theft on June 27. According to the report, an unknown person tried to withdraw $10,000 from the man’s account. The alleged suspect also tried obtaining a new debit card as well, the report said. Fortunately, the victim caught the fraud just in time to prevent any funds from transferring, police said.

Counterfeit cash

A gas station clerk called police after a man attempted to pay him with a counterfeit bill on June 26. According to the report, the employee suspected the bill was fake after it failed a marker test.
