Driving with Mary Jane

A 17-year-old teen was charged with possession of marijuana after police stopped him in the 8700 block of Monticello Avenue for a traffic violation on July 16. The alleged suspect had less than a gram of cannabis on him, the report said.

Alleged car thief caught

A 16-year-old was caught but not charged after allegedly stealing items from unlocked vehicles near Main Street and Springfield Avenue on July 6. The owner of the vehicle said he did not want to press charges. His items were also returned by police.

Three other 16-year-old teens were also caught but not charged after allegedly stealing items from unlocked vehicles near Main Street and Springfield Avenue on July 6. The owner of the vehicles did not want to press charges, but their items were returned, the report said.

Domestic battery

Eugene Gaston, 22, of the 1800 block of Crain Street in Evanston, was charged with domestic battery and resisting a peace officer on July 23. Gaston allegedly struck his wife in the face and then resisted arrest when officers arrived. His court date is Aug. 6.

Theft from auto

A car parked in the 8000 block of Skokie Boulevard was reported burglarized on July 23. According to the report, a $200 ashtray, radio, rear bumper and taillight were taken from the vehicle. The total value of said items was around $3,000, the report said.

Errrrrrr, why are we letting 16 year old hoodlums scot free? Larceny is the first step toward felony! Unless, of course, these kids in this hood are already committing other acts and the victims of these acts fear reprisal?

That's what I said when I saw it in the report! I double checked and it was indeed a $200 ashtray. I wonder what it did?

All joking aside, I think it was probably made of some expensive material. Expensive enough for the alleged culprit to take it.

What happened to Curfew's ???? Please someone tell me why they aren't being arrested so parents can be held accountable!!

The incident took place on Friday, July 6 at 11:54 p.m. On Friday and Saturday, Skokie curfew is midnight. The link provided in my previous comment has more information about the car burglaries.
