Wednesday Blotter: Shots Fired at Apartment Complex
The following arrest information was supplied by the Skokie Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction. At Skokie Patch, we update our blotter daily.
Police responded to a shots fired complaint in the 4800 block of Greenleaf Street on Feb. 11. A witness told police that she heard several gunshots outside an apartment complex property, police said. When officers arrived on scene, they observed two bullet holes inside an apartment unit, the report stated.
Officers would later learn that the offender was targeting a specific subject in the apartment due to a financial dispute. No arrests were made.
Police responded to a armed robbery at Taco Bell, 8329 Skokie Blvd., on Feb. 10. According to the report, a man was waiting for his friends inside his car when an unknown offender approached him and asked for a cigarette. At that point, a second offender entered the vehicle through the passenger side door and pointed a gun at the victim, police said.
The victim was robbed of his North Face windbreaker, $50 and a smartphone, the report stated.
The first offender was described as a black male, about 6-feet-tall, wearing a Cubs hat, black windbreaker and blue jeans. The second person was described as a black male, 5-foot-8, wearing a black jacket and blue jeans.
No arrests were made.
David Laksonen, 58, of Michigan, was charged with aggravated battery on Feb. 9. According to police, Laksonen entered an unknown person's vehicle and told him he was cold and needed a ride home. The driver told Laksonen to get out of his car and proceeded to call police, the report stated. Laksonen then punched the victim in the shoulder and took his cell phone, police said.
A father told police that his son was threatened by another male teen that he was going to get shot on Feb. 3. Police located the offender in the 7700 block of Gross Point Road and did not locate a weapon, however.
Theft from auto
A car parked outside Old Orchard Mall was reported burglarized on Feb. 8. While it was clear the interior was ransacked, nothing was missing, the report stated.
A black Apple laptop, backpack, iPad and sweater were reported stolen from a vehicle parked outside Bloomindale's at Old Orchard Mall on Feb. 8.
A window of a vehicle parked in the 8600 block of Harding Avenue was shattered by an unknown person(s) on Feb. 3.
A vehicle parked in the 8300 block of St. Louis Avenue was reported vandalized on Feb. 8. According to police, one of the car's windows had been shattered.
The rear window of a vehicle parked in the 8400 block of Trumbull Avenue was shattered on Feb. 9.
A car parked in the 9300 block of Ewing Avenue had its driver's side window busted on Feb. 9.
The rear windshield of a car parked in the 3300 block of Emerson Street was shattered by an unknown person(s) on Feb. 9.
A car parked in the 900 block of LaCrosse Avenue was reported stolen on Feb. 8. According to police, the vehicle was left unlocked, with the keys inside the ignition.
A man reported his front registration plates stolen from his vehicle parked in the 7500 block of Kenneth Avenue on Feb. 10.
A man reported that his rear registration plates were stolen from his vehicle in the 7400 block of Keystone Avenue on Feb. 10.
