Immigrant Policy Reformation Just in Time for Father's Day

Since the birth of this country, fathers have been bringing their families to the US for a better life.  Today many immigrant fathers get to see this dream of a better life realized for their children.  The Obama Administration announced that all Dream Act youth are eligible to work legally in the US and defer deportation. This change in policy will allow productive residents of our neighborhoods pursue the careers they've always dreamed of.

Get ready Morton Grove for a new career force that have graduated college and have impatiently waited to begin the jobs they were trained to do.  I can't wait to see the new architects, doctors, and teachers.  Finally Immigration Reform takes a step in the right direction.  Happy Father's Day, Americans of all citizenship status.

Just a few facts on immigration;
1) An NRC report found that immigrants, especially those from Latin America, caused a net loss in terms of taxes paid versus social services received.
2) A non-partisan report in 2007 from the Congressional Budget Office concluded that most estimates show that illegal immigrants impose a net cost to state and local government. Estimates of the net national cost that illegal immigrants impose on the United States vary greatly, with the Urban Institute saying it was $1.9 billion in 1992, and a Rice University professor putting it at $19.3 billion in 1993, (last statistics available).
3) Analysis shows that 31% of adult immigrants have not completed high school.
4) Poor immigrants strain public services such as local schools and health care.
5) Hispanic immigrants in the United States were hit hard by the subprime mortgage crisis. There was a disproportionate level of foreclosures in some immigrant neighborhoods.
6) European immigrants were often poor when they arrived, by the third generation they had economically assimilated to be indistinguishable from the general population. However, for the Hispanics immigrants the process stalls at the second generation and the third generation continues to be substantially poorer than whites.

These are the facts-draw your own conclusions.
Happy Fathers Day

Thank you for your information. The number one way to help immigrants become economic contributors to our communities is to allow them outlets for proper jobs. The youth that will benefit from this new policy attended American schools, speak fluent English, and many have completed levels of higher education. One of my fellow graduates from Duke University has the education, intelligence, and experience to work for Google, but needs permission from the US government to do so. Now he has that permission. Soon he will be paying taxes and buying a house with his new salary. This is a new path to the American dream that will benefit the nation.
