The Jewish Jesus: A Closer Look
For centuries, studies of Jesus downplayed or ignored his Jewish historical context – and many studies still address his Jewish background only as a stepping-stone to his role as the Christ. But such neglect has had serious consequences. Find out how many of these studies have served as a fertile source for anti-Judaism and anti-Semitism at “The Jewish Jesus” on Friday, November 16, at 11 a.m., at Oakton Community College’s Skokie campus, 7701 North Lincoln Avenue (Room P103).

Sure would love to attend this program! I teach 8th grade at a Catholic school in southern Wisconsin, and we spend a good deal of time studying the Jewish religion and its significance to the life of Christ. We also celebrate a Christian Seder and include much of the Jewish ritual and prayer models for our solemn prayer experience. Our students learn about the Jewish faith and we all respect it not only as it relates to our belief in Jesus as our Messiah, but also as one of many world religions to respect.
