Sorry to hear about your condition. I believe you knew my father, John Carlson who was a boardRead Moremembe r at 73.5 and held you in deep respect. I am a graduate of Cleveland School ( the last class) in 1959. Favorite teacher was Mrs. Norkett (Schermerhorn). She would be beyond crazy with all the errors appearing in the Patch.

My own boyhood schoolmarm, Miss Mary Ann Flasch, would surely roll over in her grave if she saw the Read Morepoor work of today's writers...that is, if she had a grave. Poor Miss Flasch went down with the Lusitania, you see, and they never did fish her spinsterly body from the depths. Alas.

Alas, what are our motor hotels coming to these days? Cannot a fellow fornicate with his scarletRead Morewom en in peace? Cannot a lad invite an entire Dixieland band to his room for an evening of merriment? Those of us who depend on such no-questions-asked establishments deserve to be safe from ne'er-do-wells while we, ourselves, do ill. And you ask what Skokie is doing about gun shootings... I agree. What will be next? Knife stabbings? Rope stranglings? Candlestick head-bonkings? Poison poisonings? Banana peel slippings? What is Skokie coming to?

Um, okay, so if these are hippie rules, and since the State of Illinois, Cook County, and theRead MoreVillag e of Skokie all enacted these rules (and well, yeah, the U.S. at large, too) -- I guess *anyone* choosing to reside here is voluntarily living in a hippie colony, yes? And do you know what you call someone who lives in a hippie colony..?

Fair housing should apply to all suburbs. Is Wilmette, Winnetka, Glencoe, Lake Forest, buyingRead Moreinto Fair Housing? The last I heard this was not the case.

Hippies?! In our fair village?! I warmly welcome those of any color, creed, bedroom preference,Read Morehand icap, or species. EXCEPT those damned dirty hippies! Mr. Motel - you of such compassion, openness, and level-headed thinking - thank you for pointing out the existence of these greasy, long-haired, rock-and/or-roll-playing, grass-taking, love-making, unwashed peaceniks in our midst. I shall alert the local constable and have them chased back to Californy at my earliest convenience! Hippies! I declare!
