Niles North presents an exciting evening of music, along with original debuts, at the 21st annual Vocal Jazz Night, held Friday, May 18 at 7:30 p.m. in the Auditorium at 9800 Lawler, Skokie. Niles North vocal groups Take One, Soundcheck and Harmonic Motion will perform. Tickets are $10 and may purchased at the door or by calling the Box Office at (847) 626-2122. There will not be a 10 a.m. performance on Thursday, May 17.
During the evening, audiences will hear the debut of the original composition “Rock ‘n Roll Kid,” written by Andy Mabis and Joe Fochs. Also being performed is a piece commissioned by Gary Fry called “Heaven is on My Side” by the Norwegian composer Ole Børud. There will be three pieces arranged by students: “Northern Downpour,” “Fix,” and “Because” by The Beatles. Other songs to be performed include “Lullaby of Birdland,” “When You Wish upon a Star” and “So Danco Samba,” which will be sung in Portuguese.
The Choral Director is Daniel Gregerman. Assistant Directors are Logan Farris, Kathryn Lachey and Barry Grossman.

More About Niles North High School
A public four-year high school and part of District 219, Niles North High School is the future home for students from McCracken Middle School, Old Orchard Junior High, East Prairie and Golf Middle School.
Located across the street from Old Orchard Mall and east of the Edens Expressway, Niles North High School opened its doors in 1964. In 2008, the school received an award for having the "#1 Fine Arts Program in the United States."
Known as the "Vikings," the school has a variety of interscholastic athletic programs that include basketball, cross country, gymnastics, soccer, swimming, cheerleading and softball. Some notable graduates include Erin Heatherton, a Victora Secret's fashion model, Brent Novoselsky, who played tight end for the Chicago Bears and Minnesota Vikings and Mike Krasny, founder of CDW.
