Halloween comes early this year!  On Tuesday, August 21st, at 7 pm, The Book Stall at Chestnut Court welcomes three best-selling writers of paranormal fiction, Kendare Blake, (Girl of Nightmares) Lisa Desrochers, (Last Rite) and Marta Acosta (Dark Companion) to the Skokie Public Library, 5215 Oakton St. in Skokie, IL. This trio of writers of dark fiction will read from, discuss, and sign copies their work. Perfect for girls age 12 and up who like spooky, gothic tales, this event is free and open to the public.

The Skokie Public Library has a vast selection of books, audio, video and even video games. The first floor of the library is broken off into two sections: one for children to learn, play and interact while the other section host adult literature, audio books, theatre and videos, among other things.  The second floor hosts a large selection of non-fiction. The library also has numerous resources such as an Apple Digital Media Lab, computer center and multiple study rooms. On October 7, 2008, the Skokie Public Library became the first public library in Illinois to receive the 2008 National Medal for Museum and Library Services from First Lady Laura Bush.
