DESCRIPTION:Building on the success of the first two Art in the Park acti
vities\, the Skokie Northshore Sculpture Park will hold this year&rsquo\
 ;s event from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Sunday\, August 19\, adding ano

the east side of McCormick Boulevard.\nSheila Oettinger\, Board Preside

ipants and we think another hour will allow even more to enjoy the activ
ities.&rdquo\;\nArt in the Park allows school age children to make their
own small sculptures from clay\, beads\, feathers and other materials a
nd express their creativity. There is no cost to the participants and Sc
ulpture Park docents and other volunteers will be on hand to assist. &ld
quo\;It really becomes a family affair with parents and older siblings j
oining in the fun\,&rdquo\; Oettinger said. &ldquo\;And they get to take
their creations home.&rdquo\;\nAlso\, as in previous years\, the Music
Institute of Chicago will be at the Park to expose the children to a var
iety of musical instruments\, providing hands-on instruction and encoura
gement.\nThe Skokie Northshore Sculpture Park contains about 65 sculptur

e north to Touhy Avenue on the south. The Park is open 24/7\, year aroun
d\, with bike/jogging/strolling paths in a scenic setting. The Park sits
on land owned by the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District. The Park
was developed by the Village of Skokie\, which maintains the grounds and
amenities. The Skokie Northshore Sculpture Park is a non-profit corpora
tion\, with a board of directors responsible for selecting\, installing
and maintaining the sculptures and funding all costs associated with tho
se responsibilities.\nMore information is available on the Sculpture Par
