Here's your Today in Skokie report of what's happening Thursday, Aug. 29.
- The Purple Hotel in Lincolnwood is being demolished; the foreman of a wrecking crew said bricks would be available for souvenir hunters toward the end of this week.
- Devonshire Aquatic Center has closed, but Skokie Water Playground, 4715 Oakton, has public swim from noon to 7 p.m. today. If you have a season pass, you can enter at 11 a.m.
- Niles West and Niles North High Schools face off in girls' tennis today.
- Niles West High School plays its first football game of the season tomorrow night. It starts at 7 p.m.
