Attend National Night Out And Meet Your Police Officers

Here's what's up Today in Skokie.

  • Like the name suggests, National Night Out is national. Skokie police join police departments across the nation in meeting residents in relaxed settings, often handing out promotional goodies. Here's the schedule for today, and police will be around tomorrow at Wednesdays on the Green, too. For Tuesday, August 6: 5 to 5:55 p.m. in Hamlin Park, 7651 Hamlin Ave.; 6 to 6:55 p.m. at Terminal Park, 9401 Kenton Avenue, and 7 to 7:55 p.m. at Emerson Park, 9350 Lawndale Avenue.
  • Is stress driving up your blood pressure? Find out your blood pressure reading at a Skokie Health Department screening from 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesday at the health department, 5127 Oakton. Proof of Skokie residency is required. For more information call 847/933-8252.
  • The "Reverse Mortgages: What the TV Ads Don't Tell You" program at the Skokie Library features an attorney with the John Marshall Fair Housing Legal Assistance Center tells the advantages and disadvantages of a reverse mortgage, and how to avoid being victimized.
