Tuesday Is National Pierogi Day
Plus, there's 'The Art of French Cuisine.' Is there no relief from the calories?
- Worried about flooding? Come to a "community conversation" Tuesday at 7 p.m. with Mayor George Van Dusen, Trustee Karen Gray-Keeler and village staff. They'll review Skokie's storm water management, the regional flood control system and options for home flood control systems. At the Curragh Irish Pub, 8266 Lincoln Avenue, Skokie.
- Drop everything, Tuesday, Oct. 8 is National Pierogi Day. You need to get your hands on some of these fluffy, doughy, buttery morsels. Some places locally to get homemade pierogi: EuroPlate Restaurant,White Eagle Restaurant, Lone Tree Manor, Niles Polish Deli,Shop-N-Save Market, plus, any mainstream or ethnic grocery store will have the refrigerated kind.
- If you want to complement that with another cuisine, "The Art of French Cuisine: A Culinary Journey Through France" is being offered at 10 a.m. Tuesday at NSSC. If you thought this was the week to start your diet...you might be wrong.
