Assembly to Revitalize Democracy: May 1-4, 2014
There is an undeniable growing divide in our country between the rich and the poor which is undermining our democracy. Political decision-making must be based on the premise of one citizen/one vote, not on who can round up the richest backer. Join us at our Assembly Revitalizing Democracy! Money, Power and Politics co-sponsored by the Ethical Humanist Society of Chicago and the American Ethical Union. Keynote speaker, Jack Altschuler, shows how we can move forward in “a system that keeps participants entrenched in paralysis.” Workshop presenters include Chicago alderman Joe Moore, ethical education author and director Dale McGowan, academic researcher and writer Ron Baiman, and Michael Greenman, moderator of a caucus to amend the constitution. Come early on Thursday, May 1 to participate in a Pre-Conference Social Action Project with the Midwest Workers Association. We will be providing resources to low-income communities. At the Society’s Coffeehouse http://ethicalhuman.org/Coffeehouse/coffeehouse.html Friday, May 2 they will host a special edition of their popular Prairie State Companion featuring Rachel Baiman, Nashville-based fiddler and recording artist. Registration is open now online and visit the AEU Assembly website for more details: https://www.regonline.com/AEU2014. Location: DoubleTree by Hilton, Chicago North Shore Conference Center, Skokie, IL.
