CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITY NOTICE:Ongoing Metra Rail Crossing Project will affect Skokie Traffic

The Village of Skokie has been informed by Metra that an ongoing Metra Rail Crossing Project will affect Skokie traffic starting approximately October 23 at 9 a.m. through November 1 at 9 a.m.

Howard Street at Lehigh Avenue will be closed for track repairs and resurfacing during this time. Metra will close the railroad crossing to traffic while the repairs are in progress and will install a detour to guide traffic around the closure.

Westbound traffic will be detoured at Howard Street and Gross Point Road to Oakton Street. Eastbound traffic will be detoured at Howard Street and Caldwell Avenue to Oakton Street.

Howard Street from Caldwell Avenue to Lehigh Avenue will remain open to all traffic. Howard Street east of the rail road crossing will remain open for local traffic.

Heavier than normal traffic on Oakton Street along with congestion on Howard Street is anticipated during this effort.
