Skokie Artist Participating in the Chesterton Art Fair

The 55th Annual Chesterton Art Fair will be held Saturday and Sunday, August 3-4 at Hawthorne Park in Porter, IN. The hours of the fair are 10-5 each day and the admission charge is $5 per person for the entire event. Parking is free. Chesterton is located in Indiana, on Lake Michigan, about 30 minutes from the Illinois border. Loel Martin, a photographer from Skokie will be returning this year. Loel, along with 80 others from 11 states will be exhibiting artwork in a multitude of mediums - painting, drawing, photography, jewelry, sculpture, weaving, glass and pottery, to name a few.  The Golden Fingers, a Chesterton-based ukulele band, will play music from 10:30-12:00 and members of the South Shore Youth Orchestra will perform from 1-3 each day at the Art Fair. Volunteers from St. Patrick's Catholic Church and Augsburg Lutheran Church will be in charge of the food and beverage booths. A children's activity booth will allow kids the opportunity to create a piece of art.  Proceeds from the Chesterton Art Fair go to the Art Education Fund at the Chesterton Art Center. Over 1,000 children participate in art classes each year, creating projects and learning to appreciate and enjoy art in many forms.  The Chesterton Art Center is located at 115 S. 4th St., Chesterton, IN 46304.
