The Koenig & Strey Foundation to volunteer in “Week of Kindness” June 10-14

The Koenig & Strey Foundation, the charitable arm of Chicagoland real estate brokerage Koenig & Strey Real Living, has announced that more than 180 agents, employees and managers will volunteer time with seven local charity organizations during their “Week of Kindness” June 10.

Nancy Nagy, President and CEO of Koenig & Strey said, “The ‘Week of Kindness’ is a very special initiative for the Koenig & Strey Foundation. Being able to support so many wonderful organizations and give back to the communities and people that give so much to all of us is very important to Koenig & Strey and our Foundation. This is the first year that we have held a volunteer week and I am so impressed by the number of agents who have committed their time to give something back.”

The Koenig & Strey Foundation will support the following charities during the “Week of Kindness”:

 • Habitat for Humanity ReStore: Forty-five agents from the Gold Coast, Lincoln Park, Northbrook, Glenview office, as well as the Home Office, will spend time at the ReStore locations in Chicago and Gurnee helping stock shelves and sort donations of household accessories, building materials and appliances. These items are sold to the public at a fraction of the retail price.

 • Greater Chicago Food Depository (GCFD): More than 25 agents and employees from the Webster Street, Evanston and Home offices will volunteer packaging dry goods on June 10 and 14. GCFD is a nonprofit food distribution and training center providing food for hungry people while striving to end hunger in our community

 • Feed My Starving Children (FMSC): The Glen Ellyn, Naperville, Libertyville and Elmhurst offices will send 38 volunteers to FMSC to assemble and package a prepared dry-mix to send to needy families. FMSC strives to eliminate starvation in children throughout the world by helping to instill compassion in people to hear and respond to the cries of those in need.

The Little City Foundation: The Schaumburg office is sending over 30 volunteers to Little City to paint, replace flooring, light fixtures and blinds and do exterior landscaping of the Little City homes in Schaumburg. The Little City Foundation’s mission is to ensure that people with intellectual and developmental disabilities are provided with the best options and opportunities to live safely, work productively, explore creatively and learn continuously throughout their lifetime.

The Deerfield Food Pantry: Volunteers from the Deerfield office will volunteer in the Deerfield Food Kitchen assisting with many of the pantry’s daily necessities.

Shields Township Food Pantry: The Lake Forest office will be at the Jewel in Lake Forest raising donations and collecting non-perishable food items for the Shields Township Food Pantry, which serves all of Lake Bluff and parts of North Chicago and Lake Forest.

Winnetka Children’s Fair: The Winnetka office will participate in a community project at the Winnetka Children’s Fair to help raise funds for local children.

“We are so excited about being able to give back throughout the Chicagoland communities we serve every day through small acts of kindness,” Koenig & Strey Foundation Chairman Joe Stacy said.
