First Bank & Trust Hosts Spring Celebration June 2 at Eco-Friendly Branch

First Bank & Trust presents a Spring Celebration event on Saturday, June 2nd from 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at its newest branch office at 4007 Dempster Street in Skokie. Guests are invited to create biodegradable flower pots with the Talking Farm, a Skokie/Evanston-based non-profit, and take home a complimentary plant. First Bank & Trust staff will give informal tours of the environmentally-friendly building features, and complimentary refreshments will be provided. Guests who open a new Charter Member or Junior Banker account during the Spring Celebration will also receive a complimentary evergreen seedling from the Arbor Day Foundation.

First Bank & Trust Skokie/Evanston installed a “green” roof system on May 1st. A total of 60 pods, each six-inch deep and planted with a combination of tall flowering native perennials and grasses, were hoisted to the rooftop of the building with cranes. The green roof covers all flat roofed areas of the building. The roof plantings beautify the building and provide a host of environmental benefits, including providing additional building insulation, extending the life span of the roofing components to 50 years or more, diminishing the "heat island effect," absorbing rainwater, limiting water runoff, and filtering contaminants, and producing oxygen.
