Lincolnwood Synagogue Observes Fast Day

Tisha B'Av, the Fast of the Ninth of Av, is a day of mourning to commemorate the many tragedies that have befallen the Jewish people, many of which coincidentally have occurred on this day in history. This year it occurs on Sunday, July 29. Tisha B’Av will be observed at Lincolnwood Jewish Congregation, A.G. Beth Israel with a showing of the documentary film,
narrated by Academy Award winner Dustin Hoffman, "Against the Tide,"
Sunday, July 29 at 5:00 p.m. at Lincolnwood Jewish Congregation A.G.
Beth Israel, 7117 M. Crawford, Lincolnwood, Il. The film is about the
tireless efforts of young activist Hillel Kook/Peter Bergson to rescue
Europe’s Jews during the Holocaust. A discussion of how the lessons
from the film can be applied to the lessons of Tisha B’Av will follow.
