Event: How to Avoid Getting Ripped Off

The Ethical Humanist Society will be hosting a free event on Jan. 27 on "How to avoid getting ripped off."

P.T. Barnum once said, “There’s a sucker born every minute.”

In the investing world, that especially holds true.

Phil Ferguson, professional financial planner and investment advisor, will be speaking at the Ethical Humanist Society, 7574 Lincoln Ave., at an event titled, Skepticism and Investing – How to Avoid Getting Ripped Off, on Jan. 27.

Ferguson said we can too easily become victims of so-called experts. As a secularist thinker, he will discuss how one can use their skeptical outlook and critical thinking skills in making wise investment decisions, according to the Ethical Humanist Society.

The event begins at 10:30 a.m., is free and also includes coffee and an after presentation talk. Those with children will be glad to know that childcare is available during the event.
