The village of Skokie bought the building for $1.175 million and is demolishing it due to its poor condition, Village Manager Al Rigoni said at a July village board meeting.

The village hopes to interest a developer in building on the land, at the prominent corner of Lincoln Avenue and Oakton Street, once it is level.
