Scream Scene!

For starters, this is not recommended for children under the age of 10, it's that scary! Scream Scene is rated as one of Illinois' best haunted houses and features almost two dozen rooms of craziness. Stop by and get greeted by a crazed butcher or insane clown.

At the Skokie Water Playground, 4701 Oakton St. For more details click here.

Things that go 'bump' in the night

Not into being scared? Then check out this educational look at the feathered creatures of the night. The night concludes with songs and snacks by the campfire at Emily Oaks Nature Center, 4650 Brummel St.. Tickets should be purchased in advance. Call 847-674-1500 ext. 2500 for more details.

Celebrate at the Skatium

Ice skate and celebrate is some ghouly fun at the Skatium Ice Arena, 9300 Weber Park Place. The arena will feature a Halloween friendly atmosphere for families and children. Call 847-674-1500 ext. 2500 for more info.

Halloween costume parade

Check out this Halloween costume parade that features treats, art projects and more. A family friendly event and rated as "Chicagoland's best rainy day activity site" by Chicago Magazine, the Exploratorium, 4701 Oakton St., is a place where children and adults explore together through interactive play. There will be an arts area, a costume dress-up area, water play area, computer stations and massive tunnel playground.

Pumpkin Patch!

Check out Clover's Garden Center in neighboring Niles to get into that Fall mode. Located at 5485 Touhy Ave., the garden center has a variety of pumpkins - from those ugly bubbly looking ones to white, orange and even green ones.

I heard that Scream Scene was closed on Friday before 9:00. Did it close early or are there different hours than the ones posted here? Is there some way to find out when it will be closed without having to go there and find out?
