How to Get a Political Sign on Your Front Yard

Skokie's elections are just around the corner. And what better way to show your support than through a political sign on your front yard.

While Skokie has several school districts, the hottest race in town (or should I say village) is the trustee race. There are nine contenders fighting for six seats.

That being said, here’s how to get a political sign from each party:

The Caucus Party has a full slate of six candidates for the upcoming election. Those looking to support the group can get a sign at the Caucus Party Headquarters, 3716 Dempster St.

If residents wish to have the sign delivered to them, or if no one is at the party headquarters, then call (224)-534-9569 and leave a message. Residents can also email SkokieCaucusParty@gmail.com for a sign. There is no cost for a sign.

Are there rules on where you can place a sign?

To answer my obvious question above, yes, there are rules set fourth by the Supreme Court on political signs.

Here are a few key rules:

  • Do not put signs in the parkway.  The parkway is the grassy strip between the sidewalk and the street.
  • Political signs may not be displayed on private property, which is zoned commercial or industrial, unless it is election day.
  • Election day is April 9.
  • For a full list of signage rules, see the attached PDF from the Village Manager’s office.
