Skokie Climbs Above 0

Temperature reaches 2 but wind chill hovers around -17.

Skokie is experiencing temperatures above zero for the first time in nearly 40 hours, as the mercury climbed to 2 above zero around 2 p.m. today, according to the National Weather Service.

Though the wind chill is 15 below zero, the current forecast no longer calls for sub zero temperatures in the seven-day predictions, with a high of 13 expected Wednesday.

Schools and other organizations are expected to be open Wednesday.
