Polar Vortex To Return, Accuweather Says

Bitterly cold temps, snow days and more frozen pipes are on their way, meteorologists predict.

Haven't had your fill of subzero temperatures, kids home from school and frostbite?

You're in luck. Accuweather.com says the polar vortex will be moving south, to include the Chicago region, towards the end of January.

"There is the chance the cold may rival that of early January in some areas," Accuweather's website says.

Cold-weather dangers, such as frostbite and space-heater fires, and inconveniences, such as school closings and water main breaks, could result. The cold also brings an expense, as people have to pay more for heating costs.
