Turning Point Skokie Celebrates Million Dollar Grant

Turning Point Behaviorial Health Care Center CEO Ann Fisher Raney proudly announced today the receipt of a $1.2 million grant awarded by the North Suburban Healthcare Foundation.  The grant allows Turning Point to expand services and purchase the adjacent space in their current building.  Currently Turning Point owns 55% of the 40,000 square foot building at 8324 Skokie Boulevard.

Turning Point provides comprehensive mental health services to residents in communities throughout metropolitan Chicago. CEO Raney said that Turning Point initially approached the Foundation with a grant request to expand nursing staff.  Foundation representatives met with Turning Point staff for a site visit in spring of 2012, where they learned more about the organization's track record for innovation and listened to the staff's multitude of ideas for future programming.

Northshore Suburban Healthcare Foundation Board Chair Beverley J. Kroll said, “Just as we recognized a community need and capability to address those needs by Lighhouse for the Blind, we see the singular potential of Turning Point. Foundation Board Vice Chairman Donald Perille continued, “Turning Point's operating philosophy of linking people with compassionate, respectful and cost-effective services, makes it a model for its peers in the behavioral health field.” 

CEO Ann Fisher Raney announced the grant to the Turning Point staff at the November 5th staff meeting. “This sizeable grant, remarkable in a time of severe federal and state healthcare budget cuts, is a testament to the degree of commitmtent you bring to your work each day.”
