Unlike many of the parks, which are owned by the Skokie Park District, Skokie Northshore Sculpture Park is owned by the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago, according to www.sculpturepark.org.

With the help of the Village of Skokie, this mid - 1980's eyesore was transformed into a recreational destination, with biking and jogging paths, as well as seating areas perfect for picnic. A group of private citizens also helped fund the installation of contemporary sculptures.

Today, the village  is responsible for cleaning up and landscaping of the area, while a private not-for-profit organization maintain the sculptures. (Reference used for the titles of the sculptures: www.sculpturepark.org)
