Want Your Voice to Be Heard?

The community is waiting, just sign-up to be a blogger on Skokie Patch!

Skokie Patch is looking for a few good bloggers but before I explain, I want to be clear on what a “blog” is.

The new age of social media and online news has some funny terms and though it took a while, it seems like many people know what a “Tweet” is (a 140-character message sent via Twitter). But the term “blog,” which precedes Facebook, Twitter, Foursqaure and more, has been somewhat ambiguous since its inception.

Skokie Patch is charged to change that!

A blog is simply an online journal where someone shares his or her expertise, opinion or experience. I like to call it community contribution, but you can call it anything you like.

It differs from our opinion writers; bloggers will not be held to strict deadlines and content requirements. They will not receive assignments. Instead, community bloggers will have the option to write whenever they like, about whatever they like. If that means once a month, great! Every other week, perfect. It's all up to you.

Additionally, bloggers will retain the rights to the content they post and will be allowed to republish it elsewhere, something our staff writers are not allowed to do. Bloggers are unpaid, but similar to the Huffington Post model, they are given a platform and audience for their views.

We are looking for Skokie residents or those with ties to the area to contribute regularly to our community website.

So here’s what you need to know if you want to join:
