Yikes! Vultures Spotted in Skokie

The unique bird has been spotted throughout Chicagoland says one expert.

Skokie is no desert, but many locals have spotted vultures in the area recently.

According to NBC Chicago, “several huge vultures were seen camping out in the past few weeks on high-rise office ledges at Koeing and Strey, 4709 W. Golf Road.”

Bruce Jones, Skokie’s Animal Control supervisor, said the birds are turkey vultures and typically eat road kill and not humans.

“Turkey vultures, like other birds of prey have made great comebacks in recent years,” Jones told NBC Chicago.

The birds can have a six-foot wing span  and have been spotted all over the Chicagoland area, including downtown.
