Niles North Vocal Jazz Festival Presents The Sunny Wilkinson Quartet

The Niles North Vocal Jazz Festival features The Sunny Wilkinson Quartet at 8 p.m. on Saturday, April 21 in the Niles North Auditorium at 9800 Lawler Avenue, Skokie. Renowned singer Sunny Wilkinson is in that elite group of jazz vocalists who are "one of a kind." Her performance credits are impressive, having sung with The Count Basie Band, Rob McConnell and the Boss Brass, Clark Terry, Mark Murphy, Milt Hinton, Curtis Fuller and Edgar Winters, among many others. She recently headlined at the Capital University Jazz and World Music Festival and performed and gave clinics at the Crescent City Jazz Festival in New Orleans.

In addition to an impressive performance career, Sunny has also made significant contributions to jazz education with student engagement that spans two decades. She served as the Past President of the Michigan chapter of the International Association of Jazz Educators and the past chairperson for IAJE's Women's Caucus. She is also the cofounder of IAJE's Sisters in Jazz mentoring program and served for 17 years on faculty at Michigan State University.
