Second Saturday Coffeehouse

This month's Second Saturday Coffeehouse on May 14th features Kristin Lems and Margaret Nelson.

Kristin Lems is a versatile composer, songwriter, folksinger, performing artist, and keynote speaker with 20+ years of professional performing experience. Born to an acclaimed concert pianist mother and musical Dutch immigrant father, she was raised in Evanston, Illinois, and studied music from an early age. Her early talent in writing and academics won her many awards, including a first place from Scholastic Magazines, a National Merit Scholarship, and a Hopwood Award for poetry from University of Michigan.

Margaret Nelson has been a professional musician since 1982, when she teamed up with guitarist Phil Cooper. For twenty-eight years Phil and Margaret toured and performed traditional songs and tunes from England, Scotland, and North America, along with more contemporary material. Now a solo act, Margaret performs both traditional and contemporary material, including some of her own compositions.

The concert will be followed by an intermission, and then to cap off the evening, a sing-along, or Peace Sing. This lively program gets the audience singing along on rousing and often funny songs promoting peace, justice and ecological sanity.

Hosted by Vicki Elberfeld.

The program starts at 8:00 p.m.
(No open mic to accommodate longer program.)
$8 minimum donation includes refreshments.
