Second Saturday Coffeehouse: Spencer Savoie

Our Second Saturday Coffeehouse on October 13th, hosted by Vicki Elberfeld, features the worldly and inspired national vagabond Spencer Savoie.

Born in Texas, raised in Georgia and Kentucky and home in Chicago, Spencer was inspired by Earl Scruggs and Bill Monroe and has been pickin' and grinnin' since the age of 18. His repertoire ranges from traditional bluegrass to middle eastern and gypsy banjo tunes and a bluegrass pirate opera.

During his musical career, Spencer has been a member of Green Mountain Grass, The Firehouse Stringband and Mudbone Possumbottom. He lately fills in regularly for The Grateful Stringband, a Chicago based Grateful Dead cover band, and hosts a bluegrass jam every other Sunday at The Atlantic Bar north of Lincoln Square.

The program starts at 8:00 p.m.
Open-Mic (any genre, acoustic only) sign-up begins at 7:30.

An $8.00 minimum donation includes refreshments.
