"The Aantsy Aardvark" will be playing at the Elaine and Zollie Frank Theater, Mayer Kaplan JCC, 5050 Church St., from Jan. 24 through Feb. 3
The play focuses on main character Aabigail A. Aardvark, who is unsatisfied with the monotony of her daily aardvark life. With the help of her grandma and a shipload of pirates, Aabigail sets off to see the world and track down her favorite food, brussel sprouts. Along the way, Aabigail and her friends sing, dance, and share corny jokes, and discover there’s no place like home.
Robert Bouwman, JCC Children’s Theater Manager, is excited to produce the play for children’s theater.
“I think the kids will embrace the fantastical script and fast-paced music and dance numbers,” said Bouwman in a press release. "What’s more, I expect they will really identify with Abby and her journey of self-exploration.”
Children can play along on Thursday, Jan. 31 during the "Dress Like a Pirate" performance. Children can attend as a swashbuckler or peg-leg pirate and get a free kids ticket to the show (with purchase of adult ticket).
“Pirates, puppets, and a dancing aardvark; you couldn’t ask for more!” said Bouwman.
