Saturday night was pretty close to perfection at Skokie's Backlot Bash, with a happy crowd clapping, bouncing and dancing to the refined ska of The English Beat, the headline act.
The carnival was going strong, and the smells of grilled sausage from the food concessions were wafting over the audience.
If somebody ordered weather at a pleasant 70 degrees with no humidity and no mosquitoes, it showed up as ordered.
