Despite cool temperatures and cloudy skies, more than 150 people showed up for the first of Skokie's summer entertainment series, Wednesdays on the Green.
Many sported jackets and unfurled blankets over their laps, but with those in place, conditions were quite comfortable for listening to chanteuse Charlene Brooks backed up by a large band featuring drums, sax, trombone and more.
The series runs every Wednesday through Aug. 28.
