District 65 Begins Search for New Superintendent
Members of the District 65 school board will meet with four different search firms as they begin the process of replacing former superintendent Hardy Murphy.

The District 65 school board chose Hazard, Young, Attea and Associates to conduct the search, the Daily Northwestern reported. Board members noted that the firm worked with the district four years ago to choose former superintendent Hardy Murphy, and are familiar with the district, which serves students from Skokie and Evanston.

Two months after Hardy Murphy abruptly resigned as District 65 superintendent, the school board is beginning the process of finding a replacement.
Board members were scheduled to hold a special meeting Monday to hear proposals from four search firms who responded to the district’s request for proposals.

Murphy resigned in August after 13 years as superintendent of schools, announcing that he was going to pursue consulting opportunities instead.
The search firms under consideration include ECRA/Hazard, Young & Attea of Rosemont, b.w.p. & Associates of Libertyville, School Exec Connect of Highland Park and Ray & Associates of St. Charles. ECRA submitted the lowest bid for the search process, at $14,500, while b.w.p. submitted the highest bid, at $17,900. The other two search firms both submitted bids of $16,500.
After hearing presentations from all four search firms, board members are expect to vote on a selection. The meeting starts at 4:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 28, in the Joseph E. Hill Education Center, 1500 McDaniel Ave. in Evanston.
