The Evanston/Skokie District 65 board of education is expected to appoint an interim superintendent this Friday to replace outgoing Supt. Hardy Murphy.
Murphy announced his resignation last Monday, Aug. 12, two weeks before the school year began. His last day was Friday, Aug. 9, according to district spokesperson Pat Markham.
Board members are planning to meet to appoint an interim superintendent at 7:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 23, at the Joseph E. Hill Education Center, 1500 McDaniel Ave., in Evanston, according to the district website.
At a board meeting Monday, president Tracy Quattrocki said the board would begin the search for a new superintendent this September. She also announced the terms of Murphy's separation agreement. Because he had two years left on his contract when he resigned, Quattrocki said he would receive $175,000 from the district.
