D69 Community Hosts Carter Vo Fundraiser

The event is hosted at the Village Inn from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday.

The Foundation Uniting Neighbors of District 69 (FUND69) has changed its Wednesday fundraiser to honor the death of Madison School student Carter Vo.

"After this tragedy occurred a conversation was started that led to people on the foundation board wondering if we could change our fundraiser so it would benefit the [Vo] family." said Keith Shaffer, District 69's director of technology and an adminastrative representative to FUND69. "They wanted to do a memorial and whatever's funding left we'd put it into the account that the PTO is setting up for the family."

Organizers quickly changed the flier for the event, which is hosted from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. at , and spread the word.

People can donate today by mentioning "FUND69" when dining in or when ordering out, and 20 percent of the bill before taxes will go towards the memorial. You can also donate online, through FUND69's website.

Vo was killed Monday while riding his bike near Main Street and St. Louis Avenue Monday evening. The alleged driver of the car, Hanin Goma, 23, .
