Champps At Old Orchard Appears To Have Closed

Many Champps locations in several states, including Ohio, Kentucky and Colorado, have closed in the past three days or so.

Champps Americana appears to have closed its Westfield Old Orchard location in Skokie. Although there is no sign on the door, the restaurant was locked and dark on Wednesday evening, when, according to its posted hours, it is supposed to be open.

Leslie Murphy of the Village of Skokie's economic development department said she had heard the restaurant had closed, but Skokie Patch's calls to Westfield Old Orchard's General Manager, Tim Geiges, were not returned by close of day Wednesday.

The chain which is national, has had other closings as well, including at least three Champps Restaurants in the Cleveland, Ohio area, according to wkyc.com.

The Cleveland Plain Dealer said Champps restaurant in five other states (besides Ohio) had closed in the past two weeks. The three Cleveland locations closed Saturday night, the paper said.

The Denver Westward Blogs said Wednesday all three Colorado locations of Champps had been shuttered over the weekend.

Likewise, in Kentucky, Louisville.eater.com reported the Louisville location, which had been open less than a year, had closed in late September.

Customers were grumbling about the closings on the chain's Facebook page, including one commenter who said she was bummed the Skokie location shut down. However, other locations appear to be active, though the chain's website has removed Skokie from its list of locations.
